The GRUK and BAREFOOT ARMY (B.F.A.) split is one of my favorites! GRUK being from Chico and B.F.A. from Redding makes this a perfect release for showcasing the 530 region in the early 2000's. The split was released on CD in 2003 and named "The Shittier Split", an ode to the Blatz and Filth "Shit Split" from the 90's. I've never had a real copy but was lucky enough to have scored a burned one back in high school. The B.F.A. side features the later line up of the band after they'd grown from a three piece into a five with the addition of a second guitarist and second vocalist - Buffy. This line up really brought in a Nausea and Crass vibe which really complimented the bands grind / crust sound. But that all said, they do a country western tune on this! The GRUK side features a mix of studio and live tracks and a pretty awesome cover of the Dick's song "Kill From The Heart." All in all a rad split that always makes me feel like a teenager who just found out that punk bands existed in their hometown!
